The future
prosperity of Caotun Township can be expected to be oriented to a modern
thriving city of diversified development upon the completion of construction for
Hanpao Line in Caotun of East-West Expressway, The Second National Freeway,
Taichung-Nantou Expressway, Chung Heng
Expressway and MRT as well as with the software and hardware construction under
the township administration project supported by subsidized fund from central
government and Nantou County Government, along with the locals coordination and
support from Peopleˇ¦s
Representative Council. Projects planned for the future development of Caotun

1. Agricultural
transformation: To enhance the competitiveness of the local agricultural
products in response to Taiwanˇ¦s
accession to WTO, institute agricultural product processing zone to instruct the

characteristic agricultural development. |

2. With the completion
of construction of Taichung-Nantou Highway and The Second National Freeway open to
vehicular traffic, get Caotun Township planned into transshipment center of
warehousing and shipment distribution center. |

3. Develop tourism and
craft-based town construction project to prosper traditional craft industry as
well as establish one craft industrial zone under the guidance of National Taiwan Craft Research

4. Propose to Council
for Cultural Affairs, Executive Yuan, to appropriate land for a construction of
natural ecology park in Shuang Tung and Ping Lin under BOT, so as to enhance

harmonious symbiosis between human
being and nature for a further learning to cherish animal and plants, creating
everlasting and beautiful natural environment and drive the development tourism. |

5. Construct one 10
hectare of land resources site in Ping Lin for deposit of wastes from
construction, aiming to enhance the reuse of resources. |

6. Widen and improve Fu
Lin Road, No. 47 road, to strive for an opportunity of having the road
integrated into the traffic line in the living circle of Great Taichung
Metropolis, for the sake of benefiting to transportation of industrial and
agricultural products, increasing peopleˇ¦s income, relieving the traffic cram in downtown area, promoting the
thriving development of tourism and economic development, and keeping traffic
safety. |

7. As the ossuarium in
Chialao Mountain Park Public Cemetery has been saturated gradually, it plans to
construct the second ossuarium in the second area of this cemetery; furthermore,
there will build the family public cemetery in the ninth area to help save land
utilization as well as offer the public a convenient site to perform rites in
honor of the dead. |
